SMK EFFORTS IN IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LEARNERS ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS OF THE INDUSTRIAL WORLD AND THE CHALLENGES OF THE XXI CENTURY
Abstract
The development of the industrial revolution and the challenges of the 21st century can also have direct implications for the world of education, especially vocational education or Vocational High Schools (SMK). The 21st century is very different from the 20th century in many ways of work, social life, self- actualization. The 21st century information technology is very fast, and the development of automation that does a lot of work, the daily and repetitive nature of work is gradually replaced by production machines and computers. Therefore, there needs to be a big effort from smk to improve the quality of students. The purpose of this study is to determine the efforts of smk in improving the quality of students according to the needs of the industrial world and the challenges of the xxi century. This research method uses a skinative approach. The analysis used is Interactive analysis (Data Collection, Data Presentation, Data Reduction, Conclusion). The results obtained from the observation of the t hree vocational high schools (SMK) are: (1) Striving to meet the eight national standards of education as one of the references in the implementation of education. (2) increasing the ability of hard skills and soft skills that are useful in the development of the industrial world by maximizing practicum in the workshop and also encouraging students to increase literacy so that it can be implemented in the industrial world. (3) to gain 4C skills in facing challenges in the 21st century by following the extracurricular mental guidance provided by the school, so that students can develop these 4C skills.
